Account deletion

Delete your StarMate account

You can delete your account yourself, inside the app, at any time. Deletion is permanent and immediate: it is not a deactivation, there is no grace period and there is no restore.

How to delete your account

In the StarMate app, open the You tab and go to:

YouAccountDelete account

The screen lists what will be removed and asks you to confirm. Once you confirm, your account is deleted and you are signed out on every device.

Deleting your account is different from Sign out (which keeps everything as it is), from Pause romantic Discovery (which hides your romantic profile but keeps your account), and from withdrawing an optional consent (which never deletes your account).

What is deleted

When you delete your account, StarMate removes, as part of the same operation:

  • Your account and sign-in identity — email, phone number, Apple sign-in link, sessions and device registrations (including push tokens).
  • Your profile — name, photos, city, gender identity, interests, languages, prompts, "in your own words", relationship intention and private "Interested in" preferences.
  • Your birth data and everything computed from it — natal profile, StarCast history, Daily Opening records, and the cosmic calculations behind any Cosmic Tea you were part of.
  • Verification data — verification selfies and session records.
  • Connections and requests — Connect requests you sent or received, Connections, Together state and saved profiles.
  • Plans you created, your participation in other Plans, and your Plan feedback.
  • Messages you sent in any chat, and the photos attached to them. Your personal one-to-one chats are removed entirely.
  • Cosmic Tea readings for every pair you were part of, including your private "Your Side".
  • Your Community memberships. Communities you created pass to another admin — or to the longest-standing member if there is no other admin — and are deleted if you were the only member.
  • Your consents, privacy-settings history, notification settings and block list.

Stored files (photos, verification images, chat photos) are deleted from StarMate's storage as part of the same operation.

What may be retained, and why

  • A record that an account was deleted — an internal account identifier and the date of deletion, kept so we can prove that a deletion happened and keep the identifier from being reused. It contains no profile data.
  • Safety reports and moderation records. Reports you filed stay with our safety team without your profile attached to them. Reports filed about you are deleted with your account; the record of moderation actions taken (for example a warning or suspension) is kept with the account reference removed. This lets us handle ongoing cases, keep enforcement consistent and respond to legal requests.
  • Messages other people sent in shared chats (group Plans and Communities) are theirs and stay for them; your own messages are removed.
  • Records other people made about you in the ordinary course — for example, a Community's admin audit log entry saying that a member was removed — keep the event but not your account link.
  • Server logs and backups may contain your data for a limited period before they are overwritten or expire. Confirm the log and backup retention periods with the operator (hosting and log-retention configuration) before publishing a number.
  • SMS and email delivery records held by our messaging providers for the delivery of one-time codes, under their own retention terms. Confirm provider retention periods (Infobip for SMS; the SMTP provider for email).

Nothing retained is used to rebuild a profile or to contact you.

What other people see

Your profile disappears from Discover, from saved lists and from Plans and Communities. In shared chats your messages are removed. A person you were connected to sees that the connection is no longer available, without being told why.

If you need help

Deletion inside the app is the fastest way. If you can't sign in — you've lost access to your email and Apple Account, or your account is blocked and the screen tells you to contact support — email support@starmate.app from the address you registered with. We will verify that it's you and complete the deletion. You do not have to email us to delete an account you can still sign in to.

For privacy rights requests other than deletion — access, correction, portability — see the Privacy Policy.
